Gaming NewsFlorida casino cruise sewage bill re-introduced2 March 2007FLORIDA – As reported by the Florida News: "Florida Rep. Bob Allen is taking another whirl at a bill to stop gambling-cruise operators from releasing an estimated 1.4 million gallons of sewage off Brevard County's coast each year. "The Merritt Island Republican has introduced House Bill 57, the 'Clean Ocean Act of 2007.' "…The new bill would empower ports such as Port Canaveral to charge operators' fees, based on tonnage, to use pump-out facilities on port grounds. "The ships still could release passengers' waste in the ocean, but would have no financial incentive to do so after paying the mandatory fees, Allen said…" |
