Federer says he sought explanation

10 November 2010

PARIS, France -- Tennis ace Roger Federer denied he had any knowledge that Ted Forstmann, head of his management company IMG, was betting on the 2007 French Open final, according to a report in the New York Times.

Federer said once he learned of the current lawsuit Forstmann is facing in Los Angeles that he contacted him to seek clarification, the New York Times report said.

Federer was adamant he has no involvement with gambling and is quoted in the New York Times report as saying "I would never do such a thing."

Forstmann is being sued by Agate Printing for fraud and other charges, the New York Times noted.
