FanDuel pays out over $3 million on Tiger Woods

14 April 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Congratulations to Tiger Woods for taking home the Green Jacket at The 2019 Masters, but the real winners are FanDuel’s customers.

The Tiger Effect is real and FanDuel Group is feeling the impact. Because Tiger won, all FanDuel fantasy golf customers who entered the $1M Mega Eagle Daily Fantasy contest for The Masters are getting their entry fees refunded directly to their account, even if Tiger wasn’t in their lineup. The $1M Mega Eagle contest was FanDuel’s biggest fantasy golf contest ever and the company will happily payout more than $2 million (a combination of over $1M in winning prize payouts and over $1M in promotional refunds) to its fantasy golf customers. The promotional refunds will be in customer accounts on Monday morning.

FanDuel Group’s Sportsbook customers also had a great Sunday thanks to Tiger Woods winning The 2019 Masters. Woods began the week netting only 10% of all bets to win the Masters outright with FanDuel Sportsbook offering the best prices in New Jersey at +1800, but as Tiger charged up the leaderboard, the FanDuel Sportsbook ended the tournament with approximately 21% of bets on Tiger and more than $1 million in liability. Brooks Koepka was the second most popular golfer giving the Sportsbook the next greatest liability. The most popular prop bet of the tournament was “Next Hole Score for Tiger” with “Birdie or Better” being the most popular on every hole.

“The Tiger effect is real,” said Mike Raffesnperger, CMO for FanDuel Group. “Tiger’s historic win today has cemented him as one of the most iconic figures in sports and we congratulate him on his tremendous achievement. We’re even happier for our customers who today have over three million reasons to believe there are more ways to win on FanDuel!”
