Delaware racetrack giving back in time of need

WILMINGTON, Delaware -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Delaware Park, the Delaware Valley's premier racetrack and gaming venue, is offering 10 free slot dollars to customers who donate canned goods for the Food Bank of Delaware at the casino next week. Delaware Park also announced today it will match customer contributions by donating $1 to the Food Bank for every pound of food collected, up to $10,000.

Delaware Park sponsored a similar food drive for the Food Bank of Delaware last month with customers donating 16 large containers of canned goods totaling over 3,400 pounds of food.

"Our customers responded very generously during our appeal last month and many asked that we hold the food drive again," said Andrew Gentile, General Manager at Delaware Park. "We readily agreed. We are proud to support the Food Bank of Delaware, which does a tremendous job feeding people in need in our state."

Food drive donors must be members of Delaware Park's Player Rewards Club to be eligible for the slot dollars reward. Players who are not Player Rewards Club Members may join—at no cost—at the time they make their food donations. As members, they will become eligible for invitations to exclusive events, sweepstakes, quarterly rewards, promotional giveaways and the opportunity to play at White Clay Creek Country Club, Delaware Park's 18-hole championship golf course.

The Food Bank of Delaware is a nonprofit agency that distributes food through over 235 member agencies. It is the only facility in Delaware with the equipment, warehouse and staff to collect donations safely from all sectors of the food industry and efficiently redistribute them to those who need it most. The Food Bank of Delaware distributes more than 10 million pounds of food each year.

Food donations will be accepted at the Redemption Center located across from the first floor Player Rewards Club between noon and 10 p.m. from Monday, December 8, to Friday, December 12. Delaware Park can accept only canned food items during this drive, and the Slot Dollar offer is valid only on the dates specified above and can only be redeemed once during the specified dates.
