Curling Championship returns to The Orleans

27 February 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- For the first time in a decade, the World Men's Curling Championship will return to the U.S. at The Orleans Arena on 31 March to 8 April, bringing talented curling teams from around the world, including Sweden's Olympic Curling Team who took home the silver medal during the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

This year's Championship follows the historic first-time gold medal-win by the U.S. Men's Curling Team in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, giving fans an opportunity to experience the international sensation of curling in Las Vegas. A total of 13 teams from the European Zone, Americas Zone and Pacific-Asia Zone will compete for the championship title. Each participating team will play 12 games during the seven-day round-robin portion, followed by a playoff round featuring the top six teams. From there, the teams will be pared down to a medal round for the final four. The crowning of the new world champions will take place on Sunday, 8 April.

Curling teams participating this year include the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Scotland, Norway, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Russia and Switzerland.

Team U.S.A. and Team Canada representatives will be decided on 10 and 11 March at their respective national championships. Sweden will be represented by the Niklas Edin team that was defeated by Team U.S.A. in the gold medal final at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

The World Men's Curling Championship schedule can be found online.

Tickets start at $25, plus tax and fees, and can be purchased online at LasVegasCurling, The Orleans website or in-person at gift shops inside The Orleans, Suncoast Hotel and Casino, Gold Coast Hotel and Casino and Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the show (depending upon availability) at the venue box office. Four-day packages are also available, starting at $199, plus tax and fees.
