Committee looking at gambling for legal Bahamas residents

THE BAHAMAS -- A move may be underway by the Bahamas government toward allowing legal residents to gamble, The Nassau Guardian reported.

Currently, as the law stands, Bahamian citizens and permanent residents are not permitted to gamble, according to the Nassau Guardian.

The government acknowledged that there are a group of people who live in The Bahamas and resemble visitors because they have no right to work there, the Nassau Guardian reported.

Gambling is a divisive subject in The Bahamas, the report noted.
