City of Riverside Hits the Jackpot

RIVERSIDE, Iowa -- As reported by the (Iowa) Journal: "Christmas came early last night at the Riverside City Council meeting. Riverside Casino and Golf Resort general manager Joe Massa was on hand to present the city a check in the amount of $146,324.20.

According to Riverside Casino and Golf Resort Public Relations Director Sharon Haselhoff, the check was the first of many to come.

"The check to the city is payment for one day in August and the month of September. On April 29, 2005 the City of Riverside entered into an agreement with the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort ... the city shall receive $1,700,000 per year payable in equal monthly installments in lieu of the statutory admission fee available to Riverside..."
