City of Biloxi recognizes IP Casino as Adult Volunteer Group of the Year

(PRESS RELEASE) -- IP Casino Resort and Spa was recognized by the City of Biloxi, Mississippi, as the Adult Volunteer Group of the Year at their 35th Volunteer Recognition Ceremony held on Tuesday, 24 April at the Biloxi Civic Center.

The IP Casino Resort and Spa prides itself on being a community leader, lending support to various organizations through financial aid, sponsorships, in-kind donations and volunteerism. In addition to IP’s tireless efforts in giving back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast community, the team members of IP are also equally invested in improving the quality of life of community members.

In February 2017, IP awarded over $1 million in support to various agencies and programs. Those included in the city are the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence, Second Liners Mardi Gras Club, St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, Biloxi First, Biloxi Excel By 5, NAACP Biloxi Branch, Friends of Hiller Park, Biloxi Little Theater, Salvation Army Kroc Center and Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs.

IP team members supported and fundraised for the following groups, organizations and causes with their time, talent and resources:
  • United Way of South Mississippi’s Pacesetter Campaign raising over $94,000 and participated in the Gulf Coast Dragon Boat Races – $2,000 Sponsorship.
  • Habitat for Humanity’s “Hang Out with Habitat” event – raised $8,000.
  • American Heart Association’s Heart Walk – raised $4,000.
  • American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk – raised $30,000 and recognized as first in the State of Mississippi to raise this amount for the walk.
  • IP’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive, benefiting Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence, Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services and Biloxi Doll & Toy Fund – collected over 200 new toys.
  • IP’s Disaster Relief Drive, benefiting flood victims of Texas and Hattiesburg, Mississippi – collaborated efforts with American Red Cross to fill two truckloads with supplies for comfort as well as cleanup kits.
  • March of Dimes' March for Babies campaign – raised $20,000.
  • American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life – raised $12,000.
  • Donated 95 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
  • Volunteered at the Gulf Coast Public Safety Feed the Needy campaign for Thanksgiving and Christmas – donated 300 sweet potato pies for each event.
Team IP’s community efforts do not stop there. Many team members serve on various boards and committees, including the MS. Gulf Coast Tourism Commission, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, Bacot McCarty Foundation, United Way of South Mississippi, Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, Coast Young Professionals, PRAM, Rotary Club of Biloxi, Biloxi Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Women’s Center for Nonviolence, Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Foundation and many more.
