Chinook Winds Celebrates 10th Anniversary

OREGON– As reported by the Statesman Journal: "It's come a long way since May 25, 1995, the day that Chinook Winds Casino opened in a tent in the sand dunes on the north end of Lincoln City.

"…'We've had a lot of celebrities here, which has been a lot of fun for this little town,' said Crystal Wood, public relations director for the casino.

"…The big draw on June 25, when the casino throws a 10th anniversary celebration, will be country-singing star George Jones. Wood expects tickets for his 8 p.m. June 24 and June 25 performances to be available right up to showtime.

"…While concert tickets range from $50 to $70, June 25 will be a day of freebies, including a huge fireworks show on the beach when Jones takes his final bow.

"The event begins at 11 a.m. with ceremonies that will include the Lord's Prayer in Native American sign language, then a steady stream of free cake, hors d'oeuvres and free gifts.

"…The anniversary celebration will end Sunday with a drawing in which one contestant will win a Dodge pickup, a wooden drift boat made by Steve Steele of Lebanon and a boat trailer…"
