Chinese government cleans up illegal soccer gambling

CHINA -- The Chinese government has launched a nationwide campaign against illegal soccer gambling, according to a report in The Shanghai Daily.

Several suspects have been detained and are being investigated, said The Shanghai Daily.

The arrest last week in Qingdao of a veteran player Leng Bo stunned people on and off the pitch. His arrest was first reported in the Oriental Morning Post.
