Casino Royale chooses SSAI system

28 March 2007

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Statistical and Software Analysts, Inc., (SSAI), the provider of advanced technology solutions, today announced at ISC West that its Casino Class System has been adopted by the Casino Royale and Hotel to provide digital recording solutions for the entire property. Based on Texas Instruments Incorporated's DM642 digital media processor, the SSAI Casino Class System delivers the inherent benefits of digital video to improve the quality and efficiency of surveillance operations.

Located on the world-famous, Las Vegas Strip, the Casino Royale and Hotel is one of the most technologically progressive casinos. Approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission, the SSAI Casino Class System surveys the entire casino, including gaming tables, all areas involving money, exits and entrances, hotel common areas, parking areas, and an off-site warehouse. The SSAI system greatly reduces the surveillance system footprint while improving content storage and preservation. Additionally, the system increases operator efficiency, allowing them to focus on monitoring footage rather than manually changing and maintaining analog video tapes used in traditional surveillance systems.

"Our Surveillance Department is very pleased with SSAI's digital surveillance system. The easy to use system allows us to quickly identify and review events as they happen. The video playback is high quality, easy to use, and easy to focus on sequences of interest. Implementing SSAI's system has allowed our surveillance team to focus on what they do best; monitoring casino events rather than manually changing and cataloging VCR tapes," said Mr. Juan Garcia, General Manager of the Casino Royale and Hotel.

The Casino Class System features SSAI's highly-optimized video compression algorithms running on TI's DM642 digital signal processor-based digital media processor to provide spectacular resolution at high frame rates that meet Nevada Gaming Commission requirements. Moreover, the Casino Class System features a user interface specifically designed for the gaming industry, ensuring intuitive operation. The interface also allows operators to effortlessly select monitoring areas and access event reviews. This offers great advantages over traditional analog surveillance systems which require operators to spend valuable time searching for and clipping an event.

"We are extremely pleased with the TI family of multimedia DSP's. In particular, the TI DM642 provides the vector architecture needed for programming it for demanding multimedia applications, such as video compression at D1-resolution using H-264 at 30 frames per second with watermarks, or video and audio compression of D1-resolution frames, at 30 frames per second with audio, or Biometrics. Furthermore the chip runs very cool, thus overheating is not a problem. In addition, being a member of the TI DSP Third Party Network, provides us with valuable insights as well as opportunities to implement our technologies," said Evangelos Yfantis, Ph. D., President and CEO of SSAI.

"SSAI harnesses the performance of TI's digital media processors to deliver surveillance systems with vital performance, quality and efficiency benefits," said Yvonne Cager, video surveillance marketing manager. "As establishments continue to push for increased security and safety, the demand for digital video systems that facilitate event capture, analysis and storage will inherently grow. SSAI's Casino Class System is one such product that can offer this robust functionality."
