Casino Rock Island approval delayed

CHICAGO, Illinois – As reported by the Quad Cities News: "After years of planning, waiting, changes in state law, and other delays, Casino Rock Island will need to wait some more before the final approval for its new $150 million complex, the Illinois Gaming Board ruled Tuesday.

"Casino Rock Island officials had asked the board to waive a traditional two-meeting rule to consider and OK the new proposed casino at the intersection of Ill. 92 and Interstate 280. Typically, the board would take such an item under initial consideration during the first meeting and vote on it at a subsequent meeting.

"Gaming board chairman Aaron Jaffe appeared to scold Casino Rock Island for seeking this expedited review.

"…The board unanimously voted to deny waiver of the two-meeting rule to consider the project…"
