Calgary Schools End Casino Fundraisers

CALGARY, Alberta – As reported by the Canadian Press: "Catholic schools in Calgary have agreed to stop using casinos as a means of fundraising.

"The decision comes after Calgary Bishop Fred Henry issued an ultimatum, threatening to strip the schools of their Catholic designation if they continued to raise money through gambling.

"…Almost half of all money raised for Calgary's Catholic schools comes from casinos, bingos and other forms of gambling…"
