Breakfast and betting at Saratoga

COLONIE, New York -- As reported by the Albany Times-Union: "Betting on horses will start at breakfast and end at dinner time this summer at Saratoga Race Course.

"The New York Racing Association will offer simulcast wagering on live thoroughbred racing from the United Kingdom during breakfasts at the Spa track five days a week, it announced Monday in The Desmond during its annual media day for the 36-day meet.

"'Breakfast with the Brits: Racing Across the Pond' will start opening day, July 25, and create a whole new concept of tea and trumpets.

"Saratoga Race Course patrons will be able to pay their $3 general admission starting just after 7 a.m. to enter a tent area near the track's front gate and wager on races from places like Catterick, Sandown, Thirsk, York, Newmarket, Goodwood, Nottingham and Haydock..."
