Black Oak Concert Series adds new shows

6 March 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Black Oak Concert Series at Westside Pavilion continues to add more names to its exciting roster of summer entertainment. On Monday, the series announced that Grammy winning power couple, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo will perform, along with singer-songwriter, Melissa Etheridge on Sunday, 21 July. Announced today, The Altimate Tour featuring Bush, +LIVE+, and special guest Our Lady Peace are set to perform on Friday, 9 August.

This summer will mark Benatar and Giraldo’s 40th anniversary in music. Since their 1979 debut, they have sold more than 30 million copies of their 12 original albums and have written and produced enduring classics like “Love Is A Battlefield,” “We Belong” and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot.” One of the most accomplished female rock musicians of all time, Benatar was the first woman to be featured on MTV when her music video for “You Better Run” aired. As for Giraldo, he is an accomplished guitarist, songwriter and producer who has lent his talents to other such popular artists as Rick Springfield and Kenny Loggins.

Performing along with Benatar and Giraldo on 21 July will be Melissa Etheridge, in support of her new album, “The Medicine Show.” She burst onto the music scene in 1988 with the release of her self-titled debut album. Since then her career has continued to skyrocket with massive hits like, “I Want to Come Over,” “I’m the Only One, “Come to My Window” and more. It was songs like those that propelled Etheridge to garner numerous awards including a Grammy win for “Best Female Rock Performance” and an Academy Award for Best Original Song for her track, “I Need to Wake” from the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

In August two of the most iconic groups of the '90s, Bush and +Live+, will join together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their two respective breakthrough albums, “Sixteen Stone” and “Throwing Copper.” Both released in 1994, selling more than 20 million copies combined, garnering numerous number one singles like, “Lightning Crashes” and “Selling the Drama” from Live and “Comedown,” “Machinehead” and “Glycerine” from Bush. Both bands will be joined by another 90s music staple Our Lady Peace.
