Black Oak Casino takes home five Romero awards

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Black Oak Casino Resort, an enterprise owned and operated by The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians, has been honored with five awards at the Casino Marketing and Technology Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Awarded in July at the annual Awards Breakfast held during the conference, the property received two Golden Romero Awards, two silver awards and an honorable mention.

"To have Black Oak Casino Resort's marketing efforts recognized in such a big way is a true testament to the hard work done day in and day out by our marketing associates," said Ron Patel, president and CEO of Black Oak Casino and Resort. "We take great pride in our work and are honored to be acknowledged for it."

Among the awards, Black Oak Casino Resort received a Gold Romero in the Electronic Marketing category for its mobile application. The online gaming app allows for online play, while also highlighting significant jackpots, including a recent $1.5 million win highlighting the machine where the jackpot was won.

The second Gold Romero was given in the category of VIP Promotion. The property was recognized for its VIP Focus Group events. As part of the initiative, designed to elicit player feedback on the casino's overall performance, VIP players were taken to a nearby apple orchard and distillery for a tour followed by a focus group session and lunch at local restaurants. In addition to the focus group, Black Oak Casino Resort was also given an Honorable Mention in the same category for its VIP Midway of Free Play event.

The two Silver Romero Awards were given to Black Oak Casino in the Online Marketing and Casino Floor Promotion categories. The first was given for its Big Game Snapchat filter. Designed by the marketing team, the filter allowed guests on property, watching the game, to take and post branded photos of themselves on various social media platforms.

For the Casino Floor Promotion category, the property was awarded another Silver Romero for an on-site display during its The Great Outdoors promotion. The display featured new retro trailers outfitted with a Ford 4X4 and side-by-site Utility Task Vehicle (UTV), which were prizes during the promotion.

The Romero Awards recognize excellence in casino marketing and were named after industry pioneer, John Romero, who spent more than 45 years crusading for effective, measurable marketing in casinos. Black Oak Casino Resort was honored in the Large category among peers with properties with more than 1,000 slot machines.
