BigHourglass.com Opens Pre-Registration for its Sweepstakes ``Hourbar''

14 August 2000

NEW YORK—(Press Release)--Aug. 14, 2000--BigHourglass.com has begun accepting registrants for its patent-pending ``Hourbar(TM),'' the first downloadable browser companion to allow users to win cash, prizes and scholarships while actually surfing the Internet.

The company, incubated out of Quantum Leap Ventures in Jersey City, NJ, plans to distribute the ``Hourbar'' to registrants beginning in the fall.

By using the ``Hourbar,'' members play real-time contests as they're surfing. The BigHourglass.com ``Hourbar'' accumulates members' usage ``entries'' toward BigHourglass.com hourly and monthly give-aways.

For each five minutes users spend online with their ``Hourbar'' open, one entry is earned in that hour's contest (i.e. one hour online equals 12 entries). At the top of each hour, a winner is chosen and awarded a prize.

Unlike other online sweepstakes formats, BigHourglass.com members only compete against other members who have their ``Hourbar'' open during that same hour, greatly increasing their chances of winning.

BigHourglass.com is providing space on the ``Hourbar'' for advertisers and sponsors that can be targeted to an advertiser-chosen demographic while protecting individual members' privacy.

``For years people have been saying that the Internet has the potential to be the most powerful advertising medium in history by becoming the first true one-to-one marketing platform,'' says Craig Coletta, CEO of BigHourglass.com.

Coletta adds,``Through the `Hourbar', we believe we scan tap into the Internet's full capabilities and offer a unique `win-win' situation for our surfing members, as well as our advertisers and sponsors. By capitalizing on the thrill of winning, BigHourglass.com delivers an exciting and relevant surfing experience to each member. To advertisers and sponsors, it provides a distinctly targeted and receptive consumer audience.''
