BetWWTS.com Offers Odds on Success of 'Red Dragon'

1 October 2002

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua – (Press Release) -- The fall blockbuster season begins this weekend when the third chapter of the Hannibal Lecter trilogy, Red Dragon, hits theaters across the country. Already being hailed as a horror masterpiece, Red Dragon will try to follow the success of its predecessors The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Realizing that the third installment of the Lecter trilogy is certain to have tremendous box office and critical success, today BetWWTS.com announced a host of odds on Red Dragon.

A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, BetWWTS.com is offering distinct wagering options on the film including its opening weekend success and if the film or actors will receive Oscar nominations. Customers may wager on whether Red Dragon will earn over or under $52.5 million during its opening weekend at 20/23 odds (i.e., win $20 for every $23 bet). Patrons may also bet on the film grossing more this weekend than Hannibal's $58 million opening weekend last year at 2/1 odds or that it will fall short of that total at 4/11.

BetWWTS.com has also created a betting option for Red Dragon receiving an Oscar nomination like its predecessor, The Silence of the Lambs, for Best Picture. The chances of the film receiving a Best Picture nomination are listed at 3/1 odds while the odds that Red Dragon will not be nominated are 4/11. In addition, customers can place wagers on whether Anthony Hopkins, Ed Norton or Ralph Fiennes will be nominated for an Academy Award for their roles in Red Dragon. BetWWTS.com has listed the odds of one of the actors receiving an Oscar nomination at 2/1 and the probability that they will not be selected at 2/5 odds.

BetWWTS.com will offer the Red Dragon betting options through October 4, the film's official opening day. Results will be based on the totals as calculated by ACNielsen EDI; all odds are subject to change.
