Bensalem board unhappy with Philadelphia Park plans

BENSALEM, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Bucks County Courier Times: "The Bensalem Gambling Advisory Board has asked state regulators to reject any new designs for Philadelphia Park Casino, calling its management company, Greenwood Gaming, 'underhanded and untrustworthy.'

"In a bitter letter sent to the state earlier this month, the Bensalem board — appointed by the mayor and council — said Philadelphia Park has 'turned its back on our township and its citizens.'

"...Philadelphia Park's owners could go before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in mid-October to seek an extension of their temporary casino license.

"...Tensions rose between the casino, horse racing fans and the state in April, when Greenwood Gaming submitted a revised gambling license application to the state. That application questioned the need for a standalone casino as Philadelphia Park sought permission to label its grandstands as the 'permanent' slots venue.

"...The Bensalem Gambling Board said it feels deceived by Philadelphia Park..."
