Another Cache Creek Casino expansion planned

5 June 2007

CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the Sacramento Bee: "Another expansion of the Cache Creek Casino Resort is planned by the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians -- calling for nearly 500 additional rooms and plenty of space for conferences and entertainment in the mostly agricultural Capay Valley.

"The proposed project, scheduled to be completed by early 2010, is being undertaken by the tribe to remain competitive with other Indian-run casinos, Cache Creek officials said.

"Previous expansions have drawn opposition from valley residents, mostly concerns about traffic on Highway 16, the two-lane road that leads to the casino.

"The latest plan includes 467 additional hotel rooms, 27 'hillside casitas,' two formal restaurants and five smaller eateries, retail stores, three swimming pools, more spa facilities, more gaming and a large event/conference center. Construction cost is estimated in the "high $200 millions."

"...The tribe is committed to high environmental standards and will work closely with the county to minimize impact, they said..."
