Alliance Gaming, Playboy Sign Licensing Agreement for Slot Series

16 October 2001

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (Press Release) -- Alliance Gaming Corp. (Nasdaq: ALLY) today announced that its Bally Gaming and Systems business unit has entered into a licensing agreement with Playboy Enterprises International, Inc. (NYSE: PLA, PLAA) for a series of interactive casino gaming devices featuring the trademarks, art and images of the Playboy brand.

…Under the direction of Playboy Enterprises International, Bally Gaming is developing games scheduled for release and installation in casinos in 2002. The games will capitalize on the advanced video and audio features of Bally Gaming's new Evolution Series platform. Copyrighted Playboy artwork and photographs will be used creatively to offer a unique slot product.

The games are scheduled to be released on the new interactive Evo Hybrid platform that combines a reel-spinning slot with a large liquid crystal display (LCD). The Evo Hybrid platform was unveiled at the recent Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas and will be on display at the World Gaming Congress & Expo in Las Vegas Oct. 17-19.

``We consider Playboy to be one of the most powerful brands in the world and a strong fit for casino audiences,'' said Robert Miodunski, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Gaming. ``Playboy's extensive library of art and images certainly gives our game development team an abundance of creative opportunities.''

``The images and sophistication of the Playboy brand are perfect for our high-end reel-spinning slot players,'' said Mickey Roemer, Vice President of Game Development for Bally Gaming. ``The Evo Hybrid has a new level of interactivity that creates a perfect fit with the excitement that Playboy represents.''

``We are excited with the opportunity to work with Alliance Gaming to create an innovative slot product,'' said Alex Vaickus, President, Playboy product Marketing Group. ``We were impressed with their company's vision and the opportunity to utilize the enormous wealth of copyrighted art and images that Playboy controls.''
