The 10 Best Casino Gambling Tips

10 March 2012

Almost 40 million visitors show up in Las Vegas every year. A little more visits Atlantic City. I don't think too many of them are considered hard-core gamblers. In fact, according to reports from the Las Vegas Visitors Bureau, more money is spent by visitors on eating, going to shows and staying in hotel rooms than on gambling.

So to help those visitors who only gamble a little bit as part of their overall enjoyment when going to a gaming location, here are 10 of the best and easiest bets to make on most of the games normally found in those places.
  1. When playing blackjack and you are not sure how to play your hand, ask the dealer; 95% of the time they will try to help you.
  2. 2. In blackjack always:
    • Stand your 12-16 vs dealer's 2-6
    • Hit your 12-16 vs dealer's 7-ace
    • Always split Aces and 8s
    • Never split 4s, 5s, or 10s
    • Don't take insurance or even money for a blackjack
    • Never stay on a soft 17 (A-6), double down or hit
    • Double 11 versus dealer 2-10
    • Double 10 versus dealer 2-9
  3. If you play slots, move to video poker. The odds are better.
  4. When playing slots, only play 3-reel machines.
  5. Always play the maximum coins on a slot machine.
  6. In roulette never play the 5 spot (0, 00, 1, 2, 3).
  7. Only play Jacks or Better 9/6 video poker machines that offer 9 for a full house, 6 for a flush.
  8. At craps only play where they offer 2 times odds or better.
  9. Keep to simple bets at craps: Pass line with odds, place the 6 and 8 (or two Come bets with odds).
  10. Don't tip dealers. Instead make a bet for them.
