Stratosphere's parent company tabs Bally for online poker

24 September 2012

Bally Technologies will provide an interactive gaming system to the parent company of the Stratosphere, which was licensed last week by Nevada gaming regulators to operate an online poker website.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

American Casino & Entertainment Properties said it plans to launch a play-for-free poker site by the end of the year, which would evolve into a real-money poker site operated within Nevada's boundaries.

Besides the Stratosphere, the company operates the two Arizona Charlie's casinos and the Aquarius in Laughlin. The Nevada Gaming Commission granted American Casino & Entertainment Properties an interactive gaming license last week, but the technology for the system still needs to be approved.

Nevada regulations were passed this year allowing for the operation of real-money Internet poker sites to be run by licensed casino operators. The sites can accept wagers only from customers on computers or mobile devices located within Nevada's borders.

Bally is one of several technology providers licensed by the state for interactive gaming.
