Jumbotron Ron

My Name is Jumbotron Ron and I Am a Dice Controller

29 January 2011

My Sicilian grandfather taught me how to play craps for coins on an Amtrak train from New York to Florida in 1983 when I was 7 years old. I have been in love with the game ever since. I played it in school, on street corners, in gambling houses, and finally in the casino. In 1996, I won $2400 my first time playing craps in Atlantic City; I was 19 years old. I've been in love with casino gambling and Atlantic City ever since. On the streets, the game is dangerous and you are limited by what the other guy has in his pocket as far as the amount you can win. In the casinos, the sky is the limit.

After 1996, my casino sessions went up and down, mostly because my whole life I have been a very blessed and lucky random roller. This is the casino and luck only lasts but so long. Eventually the house advantage gets its grip on you and grinds away your cash. In the summer of 2004, I spent a month straight in Atlantic City. Although I was up or even a majority of the month, my luck eventually ran out and I wound up losing five figures.

In the spring of 2005, I made one of the best decisions I ever made. I bought Frank Scoblete's Beat the Craps out of the Casinos. That book introduced to me to the term "rhythmic roller" and the rest, my friends, is history. That book lead me to read all of Mr. Scoblete's books on craps. The books introduced to me to the 5-Count, a shooter qualification method that's been proven in a study by Dr. Don Catlin to eliminate 57% of random rollers and select the skilled shooter 10.7% more often than it selected the random shooter. His books also introduced me to players I admired and wanted to be like, The Captain, Jimmy P, The Arm, and the one and only Dominator.

I was in Las Vegas June 2005 and after researching dice control on the internet, I went to The Gambler's General Store on Main St. to purchase Get The Edge at Craps by Sharpshooter. This would be my first book on dice control.

As I was looking for the book I noticed a young man at a half craps table in the back practicing his dice toss. After a brief introduction, he informed me that he was a dice controller. He worked for the City of Las Vegas and he practiced his toss every day at lunch on this half table.

I purchased my book and a sleeve of casino dice and proceeded to get my first lesson in dice control. He taught me the sets, the grip, and the toss. I read through what I felt to be important chapters in my hotel room, did some practice and took my act downstairs to the casino.

My first attempt at a controlled throw I hit a yo. I pressed the yo and bet money for the dealers on the yo and as I was about to set them, I changed my mind. This was my first time gambling in Las Vegas, I shook up the dice instead and asked where was Lady Luck? What do you know a yo! A giant tip, the dealers were in love with me.

I went back to setting and tossing and wound up having a nice roll utilizing come bets with full 3/4/5X odds. I won seven times my buy-in. I colored up after that roll and my wife and I had a ball in Las Vegas the rest of the trip.

When I came home I went on a run of taking eight two- and three-day trips to AC over the 2005 summer. I won a little over a stack in a half of high society plus the money from Vegas and that equaled a nice summer. Needless to say, my career as a dice controller got off to a fast start.

When things started to go sour, I contacted Dominator and I enrolled in a Golden Touch Dice Control course. Is the course worth the money? Let's just say I have had a beautiful return on my investment. The knowledge and training I've received from some of the best shooters and minds in the country has allowed me to advance light years in my game of choice. It has also allowed me to live a lifestyle that I used to dream about. The knowledge transfer alone saved me at least 30 years of trial and error.

So read a book, take a class, and practice your controlled toss to give yourself a fighting chance against the big bad casino. Put in the work and the next time you color a winner, tell 'em Jumbotron Ron sent ya!
