When gambling casinos were allowed in Atlantic City in 1978, the New Jersey Casino Control Act specified that casinos had to have at least “500 first-class hotel rooms.”

Mathematically, in 100 hands of blackjack, the dealer will win about 48 hands, the player will win about 44, and about 8 will result in a tie. The reason for those numbers that favor the dealer is because the dealer plays last.

Bill Harrah was credited with creating the “eye-in-the-sky,” the overhead crawl space with one-way glass to observe the casino activity below. This was the first known instance of casino surveillance.
